Dispense Medicines in accordance with NHS and Private Prescriptions

If you have out of date or unwanted medicines, both prescription or over the counter drugs, don’t bin them or flush them. You can take your unwanted or out of date medicines back to your pharmacy for safe disposal, and it’s completely FREE. Each year enormous quantities of unused and expired medications are dumped into bins or flushed down toilets and sinks. The effects on the environment and human health are unclear but evidence is pointing to the presence of chemicals from prescriptions and over-the-counter medications in soil, drinking water and the surrounding environment. Just as proper medication administration is important, so is safe and cautious disposal.

This is a free NHS service, sometimes called a medicine check-up, carried out by an accredited pharmacist who will make sure you are getting the most out of your medicines. It’s a face to face conversation with the pharmacist in a private consultation room.

You can have a free NHS flu Jab at our pharmacy:
• If you are 50 years of age or over before 31 March 2022
• If you are pregnant
• If you are a carer

ARC Pharmacy is a member of the Selby ROTA scheme, whereby pharmacies in the area take it in turn to open for the dispensing of emergency scripts on Sundays and Bank Holidays. As part of this scheme ARC Pharmacy will be open on Sunday and Bank Holidays between 1.00pm and 2.00pm in rotation with other participating pharmacies in the area. During our opening hours we will be able to provide a dispensing service for your NHS prescription, whether it is from your Doctor, Dentist or Prescribing Nurse. In addition we dispense private prescriptions. Also, we are now able to offer free printed information on common illnesses, to all our customers. We have a fully computerised patient medication records system, which stores all your medication records and alerts the pharmacist to possible drug interactions. Naturally, information held about patients is confidential and covered by the Data Protection Act. In the unlikely event that we do not have a particular drug in stock, usually we will obtain it for you the same day. . We are now able to receive your prescription details electronically straight from your doctors surgery, by scanning the barcode along the side. Don't worry, you will still have the green prescription form but this is a fast and more accurate way for us to produce your prescription.

Make life easier for yourself and let us order your prescription on your behalf. Simply let us know what repeat medicines you need, 48 hours before they run out, either in person, by phone, fax or email and we will arrange to collect it from your Doctor's surgery. We go daily to all the Doctors surgeries in our postcode. When we have collected your prescription it will be dispensed and waiting for you to collect at the pharmacy. We also provide a free local home delivery service for customers who are housebound or find it difficult to get to the pharmacy.

We all know smoking is very harmful to our health but giving up can be hard. We have 3 accredited smoking advisors who can give you counselling about stopping smoking. They can also request prescriptions for other smoking cessation drugs from the surgery. We can also issue NHS vouchers which enable you to obtain anti-smoking products from the pharmacy such as nicotine replacement patches, gum and nasal sprays. People who pay for prescriptions pay the NHS charge for the voucher. If you are exempt from prescription fees you do not need to pay.
