This is our “Stay Younger for Longer Programme”. As we start to age it becomes important to monitor the state of our health and wellbeing. Often there is damage occurring in our body, yet we have no symptoms or any warning that this is happening, until the disease manifests itself. Once this occurs our quality of life can become significantly impaired or can be fatal.

If you’re worried about your blood pressure or simply want to get it checked talk to our Pharmacy team about our FREE blood pressure testing service, which is done in the consultation area which is confidential. High blood pressure can increase your risk of a stroke or a heart attack, and there are rarely any symptoms, so it is important to regularly monitor your blood pressure.

A quick pin prick test taking a tiny drop of blood from your finger to determine your total Cholesterol level. Our in store Pharmacist will then go through the results with you, your results are completely confidential but we are happy to send a copy to your GP if you like.

Please ask our friendly staff for help or access to services you may need. Our staffs work hard to provide you with the best possible service. Please treat them with the courtesy and respect they deserve. We reserve the right to refuse to provide services to individuals who act in a violent, threatening or aggressive manner.

We can dispense your NHS and Private prescriptions either while you wait or whilst you shop. All our Pharmacists are experts in medicine and they will be happy to discuss any worries or concerns you may have. There is a standard NHS Prescription charge however many people are exempt from paying this fee and our staff will be more than happy to assist you. The private prescription charge will depend on the cost of your medication and the quantity you have been prescribed, our Pharmacy team will calculate the cost for you.

If you have any medicines you no longer require, bring them to us for safe disposal.

If you need one of your regular medicines in an emergency when you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help. We must stress that this can only be done in genuine emergencies and it may incur a charge.

We can advise on medical requirements for travellers, including anti-malaria treatments, avoiding sunburn and tummy upsets.

All medicines are dispensed in child resistant containers unless you request us not to. Please remember, keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children. Our pharmacist can advise you on safe storage of medicines.

We keep a wide range of over the counter medicines and also vitamins and mineral supplements.

We offer the flu vaccination at Moin’s Chemist. Influenza or flu as it is commonly known reappears every winter, usually over a short period of a few weeks, so a lot of people get ill around the same time, as it is highly contagious. If you do have flu then your immune system becomes increasingly vulnerable to catching other serious illnesses, which can be prevented by having a jab ideally before the flu season. Because the virus is constantly changing, it is essential you immunize yourself every year to protect against the latest strains of the virus, preferably before the flu starts to circulate. People who meet the following criteria, Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Liver Disease, Suffered Stroke or Aged 65+ are more at risk of catching the flu and therefore may be eligible for a free flu vaccination at Moin’s Chemist.

At Moin’s Chemist, we offer The New Medicine Service. This service is designed to support a patient who is prescribed a new medication, to help the patient get the most benefit out of this medication. Our Pharmacists will specialise in the following four conditions/therapy areas: • Type II Diabetes • Asthma/COPD • Hypertension (blood Pressure) • Antiplatelet/anticoagulant therapy But if you have a specific need which does not fall into the above categories, please ask our Pharmacist.

Our computer allows us to keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have.

If you are having any problems with your medication, please speak to our Pharmacist who will be able to identify and help to solve any problems you may have with your medication. Our Pharmacist will refer any findings to your GP from any of the above interventions, who will then follow them up, If appropriate.

Our Pharmacy Team at Moin’s Chemist and Wellbeing Centre can advise you on how to keep healthy; this could be anything from advice on healthy eating, to stop smoking or getting exercise. Speak to our fully trained staff or pick up a leaflet in store. We are currently in the process of developing several programs and workshops to cater for this need.

At Moin’s Chemist we take away all the hassle from ordering and collecting your regular repeat medication. We now offer a free Prescription Ordering, Collection and Delivery service. We can order your regular monthly prescriptions directly from your GP, we will collect your prescription from the GPs and either have it ready for you to pick up from the Pharmacy or we can deliver the medicines to you free of charge. If you require any additional help, our Pharmacy team are able to give you contact details for local services, other health care professionals, Social Services or Voluntary Organisations.

If you are thinking of giving up smoking, we can help. Our trained Stop Smoking advisers will help you choose the right Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products for your lifestyle and will also offer you one to one support to help you achieve your goal. There may be an NHS prescription charge if you are not eligible for free prescriptions. To ensure that you get the ongoing support and products you need you can have unlimited, free, repeat visits until you have given up for good.

Our team at Moin’s Chemist want to help you to look after yourself and your family. Our Pharmacists are able to provide you with advice on treating minor illnesses such as coughs and colds, seasonal ailments, pain management and more long term conditions like diabetes and asthma.

A Medicine Use Review is your chance to discuss with your Pharmacist about the regular medications you are taking, what you are taking them for, when you are taking them and any problems you may be having with them. We hope this will help improve the effectiveness of your regular medication and your understanding of them.
